Furniture Today's Top 100 Furniture Stores - Updated for 2014!
, Furniture/Today’s Top 100 U.S. Furniture stores posted a 7.8% increase in furniture, bedding and accessories sales in 2013, growing revenue to a combined $34.1 billion, up from $31.7 billion the year before. That growth wasn’t as impressive as the 9.9% gain in 2012 for the previous Top 100, but it blew away the meager increase for all U.S. furniture stores and led to a major capture of additional market share.
Top 15 U.S. Bedding Producers, 2014
, Furniture/Today uses public and private information to develop the wholesale shipment figures in its report of the Top 15 U.S. Bedding Producers. The newspaper begins the process by sending a survey to some two dozen bedding producers, asking them to supply audited and accountant-verified figures for their 2013 bedding shipments. Three leading bedding producers — Sealy, Tempur-Pedic and Select Comfort — were part of publicly-held companies last year and supplied shipment figures to Furniture/Today.

, The Top 25 U.S. Bedding Retailers, led by a sizzling Mattress Firm now in the top spot on the list, posted a 16.3% increase in bedding revenues last year. The strong performance of the group, which featured 12 double-digit sales gainers, demonstrates the growing clout wielded by major bedding retailers.

FurnitureToday's Top 25 Furniture and Bedding Retailers, 2013 , The Nation's Top 25 furniture and bedding retailers posted a double-digit sales gain last year, bolstered by strong bedding specialty and rental store sectors and a big comeback by Walmart. The combined companies on the list grew 2012 furniture and bedding sales 10.8% to $29 billion. That was up from the 7% gain for last year's Top 25, which happened to be the same companies. The most recent increase also topped the 9.9% sales increase for Furniture/Today's Top 100 Furniture Stores, which includes some but not all of the names on the latest list.

Furniture Today's Leading E-tailers, 2013 , Online furniture sales continue to tick up, increasing 11.1% in 2012 compared with the year prior according to comScore. Total retail online sales were $186.2 billion last year, up 15.3%.

Furniture Today’s Consumer Buying Trends , In 2012, 32% of U.S. households - more than 36 million - bought furniture and bedding products, spending a combined $84.2 billion. This year, more than 52 million - a massive 46% of all households - have plans to buy furniture and bedding product.

That's according to retailers answering Furniture/Today's exclusive Case Goods Style Survey. Casual styles, also referred to as lifestyle or transitional styles, now own an impressive 30% unit market share. Since 2010, the last time Furniture/Today conducted the survey, casual styles have experienced a 14 percentage point increase in terms of units sold, while contemporary has felt an 11 percentage point drop.

Furniture Today's eTailer Report, 2012 , Furniture sales through the Internet increased 5.8% last year, according to comScore, reaching $6.8 billion. Those sales figures translate into the online channel accounting for 8% of total furniture and bedding retail sales. Bedbugs: New Survey Reveals Women's Bedbug Concerns , Women, bedding's key consumers, are very aware of bedbugs, see the bedbug problem as being a serious one in the country, but are confident that problem can be controlled. Those are some of the key conclusions of a survey of women consumers conducted by Furniture/Today in partnership with Medelia Inc., a business strategy firm headed by Delia Passi. Passi, a speaker at Furniture/Today's recent Bedding Conference, and Furniture/Today posed bedbug questions to a panel of women who shared their thoughts on key bedbug issues. Approximately 250 women answered a variety of questions. This is the first time that Furniture/Today has surveyed an exclusively female audience on bedbug issues.
