In 2010, the last time we conducted this study; only 11.1 million consumers purchased a rug, as buyers were still in the middle of their recession-induced hibernation.
Home Accents Today's 2012 Universe Study , The 2012 Universe Study breaks the home accent universe into seven product categories: Decorative Accessories, Accent Furniture, Lamps, Wall Decor, Area Rugs, Lighting Fixtures and Permanent Botanicals. Estimated 2012 total sales are provided for each product category, along with 2011 estimated sales by distribution channels. It's been two years since the last Home Accents Today Universe Study was published. And while the feeling that the U.S. economy is still seriously underperforming remains even now, the industry and our overall economy has come a great distance over the past two years. All this economic improvement, happily, translates to improvement in the home accents business as well. We estimate the 2012 Home Accents overall Universe to be $57.15 billion, an improvement of 4% over 2011.

Home Accents Today Consumer Report, 2012 , Style trumps everything else, according to consumers. In fact, 93% choose home furnishings based on a product's style and design. That's one of the key findings from Home Accents Today and New York-based Apartment Therapy's exclusive 2012 survey.
Home Accents Today Imports report, 2012 , Aggregated 2011 U.S. imports for home accent products were $14.3 billion, up 10% from $13.0 billion in 2010. Figures, gathered by Home Accents Today's research department, are for the categories of area rugs, lamps, lighting, mirrors, permanent botanicals, wall decor and decorative accessories, including sculptures, statuaries, statuettes and other household decorative ornaments.
Home Accents Today Retail Store Operations Survey, 2012 , Business is looking up! 2011 sales were higher than 2010, according to six out of 10 retailers responding to Home Accents Today exclusive 2012 Store Operations Survey.
